A commission from Emma Rice’s company Wise Children to create a visual identity for the front of house areas for a site specific performance in a listed passenger shed at Bristol Temple Meads Railway station. We designed a pop-up bar, box office and market stall, creating an interactive and fun experience for audiences of all ages.

We led on spatial planning and audience flow, with particular consideration given to creating a friendly and welcoming but secure threshold to the space. We took care to develop an aesthetic for the built elements which was harmonious with the designs for the show “Malory Towers”.

“There’s a sense of total theatre as the actors clamber among the audience and perform during the interval in the foyer, which in itself feels like an extension of the set with its blackboards, hopscotch and fairy lights.”

Arifa Akbar, The Guardian
